When there is no traffic the San Bernardino Route will take minimum 57 min longer for all travellers coming via Basel.

In the left column the date and time when this comparison was made will be indicated.

In the last few months several times the traffic jam on the A13 San Bernardino was longer than the traffic jam before the Gotthard Tunnel. This was caused by severe accidents.

Top 10 Sightseeing Highlights Along the Gotthard Tunnel Road - From Basel to Chiasso

There are many sightseeing spots along your travel from Basel to Chiasso.

1. Seengen - Hallwyl Castle

Hallwyl Castle, one of Switzerland's finest and most romantic moated castles. The castle is located at the Lake Hallwil nature reserve.

Around 40 minutes drives. Distant 35 km.

7. Bellinzona - Castles of Bellinzona

The medieval castles of Castelgrande, Castello Montebello and Castello Sasso Corbaro protect Bellinzona. Bellinzona was a very important line of defence for the ancient Romans.
Castelgrande was the first castle build in the 13th century. The castles are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. More Info here.
